Why SigEp
Why SigEp is The Only Fraternity at CSU You Should Consider
Sigma Phi Epsilon is the leader on the campus of Colorado State University. SigEp is one of the original CSU fraternities and the only one on campus continuously active for over 90 years, since 1915.
SigEp is recognized as a premier student organization on campus. Our fraternity prides itself on being a balanced organization. We welcome men who represent the four principles of the Balanced Man Program - Leaders, Scholars, Athletes, and Gentlemen. Our chapter is different - No Hazing, No Pledging. This is what sets us apart as a leading fraternal organization at Colorado State and in the National Greek System.
We recruit men who have vision and a desire to improve themselves with an association with other success-oriented individuals. We realize that together, we can encourage one another to strive for excellence in all walks of life. Our brotherhood challenges one another to be the best and set an example for the fraternity system and the entire campus. We strive to be leaders at Colorado State , competitors on the intramural fields, diligent students in the classroom, and men with universal respect for self and others. Sigma Phi Epsilon is the leading fraternity at Colorado State and nationally.
We are always looking for men who want to be a part our brotherhood, which is why we recruit year-round. If you are interested in learning more about our chapter, please contact the V.P. of Recruitment, Andrew Dibala at (303) 895-5923 or through the e contact us page.
A Great House
SigEp at CSU has the most distinct and historic house on campus at 121 E Lake Street. The massive red brick mansion has been home to us for over three quarters of a century. It is one of the few “true” Greek houses on campus in appearance with its white columns out front. It is truly a home away from home with between 30+ brothers living in. SigEp also has a full time house mother and cook preparing fresh meals daily and a live in graduate academic advisor.
Athletics
SigEp continually fields the most dominate Greek sports teams at CSU. Unmatched in intramurals, SigEp participates in nearly every sport offered by the university. Our members are provided with an opportunity to play, as the house fields multiple teams in every sport. Regardless of skill, members within the house have an opportunity to play.
The Biggest and The Best: Strength in Numbers
Not just a national fraternity, but the biggest national fraternity... and it has been that way for over 25 years. Founded in 1901, SigEp now boasts over 14,000 undergraduate members with over 260 chapters across the country. SigEp also has the greatest living alumni population of any fraternity in America. With over 55 active brothers, SigEp is one of the largest fraternities at CSU.
Scholarship
SigEp knows the principal reason to be in college is to achieve academic excellence and earn a degree. SigEp is one of the top performers in grades on campus, and is continually ranked in the top three of of CSU Fraternities, on top of the the consistent evidence that Greek members perform significantly better academically and graduate more often.
To maintain our focus on scholarship and academic achievement
- SigEp has an academic requirement to keep brothers in good standing with the house.
- SigEp has a live in advisor to help with academics.
- SigEp has an Educational Test File containing all of the old tests from members of the house, an excellent resource for all college studying.
- SigEp nationally offers Educational Foundation Scholarships.
Leadership
Our chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon consists of men who wish to develop into the balanced leaders of tomorrow. Members of SigEp enjoy several leadership opportunities the second the join the house. Internally, SigEp is run by an executive board that is open for any member to join. SigEp also opens doors all over campus with several brothers being leaders in Student Government, Varsity Sports, the Campus Newspaper and Radio, Campus Ambassadors and several other University Programs. SigEp at CSU encourages strong personal growth through its members being leaders in the college and community.
Philanthropy
SigEp at CSU is committed to giving back to the community in which it resides. Each member of the house has a required number of hours to complete each semester, totaling 1500 hours for the fraternity. SigEp has an annual fall Bachelor Auction that raises over five thousand dollars for our charities, and it is the largest Greek community service event on campus. Each member of SigEp learns the importance of giving back.
A Lifetime Bond : Brotherhood
Going SigEp has benefits stretching far past your college experience. Recruiters know that the fraternity experience prepares a person for a life full of leadership and involvement. SigEp will help past graduation with the largest alumni base out of any fraternity. Our chapter alone has over 2000 successful alumni. There are job and internship opportunities found through networking with alumni and many continue to look for SigEp brothers after graduation.
SigEp’s balanced man program and strict non-hazing guidelines lay the foundation for meaningful friendships. Every member in SigEp has the same responsibility and say no matter what their standing in college. There is no pledging, and full member status is obtained instantly after joining. There is no semester wait, pledging actives or any other demeaning initiations. SigEp builds brothers for life.
A Good Deal in a Challenging Economic Time
SigEp offers the most financially responsible way to go to CSU. Living in the SigEp house is less expensive than living in the dorms, less expensive than living in an off campus apartment or house, and is has several other benefits. Included in payment is a full meal plan through our cook, a full calendar of social events, and all utilities. Even more helpful are scholarships offered through the house for its own undergraduate members by the alumni of SigEp. With all of the benefits, SigEp is truly the most economical way to attend CSU.
Social Acumen
Social acumen is unquestionably a critical skill for new graduates, and Sigma Phi Epsilon better prepares college men with the social skills that will benefit them after graduation.
Brotherhood in Sigma Phi Epsilon offers some of the most widespread actives for all interests. Due to our excellent sorority relations, there is no shortage of events to attend or functions to meet new people at. We are frequently a top choice among sororities for the functions that they host. SigEp stresses a balanced approach that compliments hard work during the day for positive academics and events and mixers at night when the work is done. Everything that you will do within SigEp will be approached with a positive attitude that makes every event fun.
Tradition
Tradition, heritage, and a group to identify with and to be proud of. Sigma Phi Epsilon is Colorado State University’s oldest continuously active fraternity and has an unparalleled tradition of excellence. We look forward to a future as distinguished as the past and if you are as committed to excellence as we are, we need your help.
