Homecoming
Homecoming is a great time for Colorado Gamma undergraduates and alumni alike. Float building and the annual SigEp entry in CSU's homecoming parade is a cherished tradition. Colorado State University began the homecoming tradition in 1914, one year before the Colorado Gamma of Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapter was chartered at CSU.
Kappa Delta and SigEp - Homecoming 2009 Celebrating the Past, Building the Future
Homecoming 2009
For the second year in a row, SigEp placed number one in Greek Homecoming Festivities Week! When undergrads heard this year's theme was “Celebrating the Past, Building the Future”, they thought to construct a replica of SigEp's 1954 homecoming float, which boasted a Rams head atop a much smaller version the A.
SigEp was paired with the ladies of Kappa Delta, and won Best Greek Float. During the homecoming parade, half of SigEps and KDs dressed in 1950’s clothing, while the other half dressed in crazy and elaborate futuristic outfits. We are proud of our boys and can contribute the wins to the effort of all the SigEps and Kappa Deltas, along with their respective homecoming chairs Brice Petersen ‘11, and Liz Levine ‘12.
The 2008 Green Parthenon float of SigEp, Gamma Phi, and SAE
Homecoming 2008
2008 was the dawn of a new era for CSU football as Steve Fairchild was hired away from the Buffalo Bills to take over as the new head football coach at CSU. It was a bittersweet transition as we honored the tremendous accomplishments of Coach Sonny Lubick and wished him well in his future endeavors, but were excited to see a high caliber coach like Fairchild come back to CSU.
While the Rams suffered a heartbreaking 7-13 loss to Mountain West rival TCU, Colorado Gamma had a great weekend. The theme for the 2008 homecoming parade was It's easy being Green. SigEp teamed up with G-Phi and SAE for their Homecoming Parade Float and Won best overall Float!
1999 SigEp-Gamma Phi Stay Puft Homecoming Float
Homecoming 1999
SigEp and Gamma Phi built a Stay Puft homecoming float for the 1998 CSU Homecoming parade.
Yes, the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man is wearing a child's swimming pool for a hat and no we did not place in the 1999 homecoming float awards. Obviously we didn't know quite what to do with the 1999 CSU Homecoming theme Decades of Discovery.
Nonetheless, it was classic good times as we spent the week with the ladies of Gamma Phi Beta and guarded our float with honor all night before the homecoming parade Saturday morning, October 2nd, 1999. As you can see in the photo, all were having a great time riding along the parade route with Stay Puft.
Homecoming 1997
SigEp and G-Phi's 1997 Hose the Bows Homecoming float
The Rams dominated the Rainbows 63-0 at homecoming and went on to one of the greatest seasons in Ram Football history. Moses Moreno led the team to a WAC Championship over New Mexico and a 1997 Holiday Bowl upset over Missouri under Coach Sonny Lubick.
This year's homecoming was an important time as the campus and community continued to recover from the devastating Spring Creek flood during the summer of 1997. The flood severely damaged the CSU campus and the homecoming activities were an important part of getting life at CSU back to normal.
Colorado Gamma went with a Hose the Bows homecoming float with all members of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Gamma Phi Beta riding on a flatbed trailer.
