AVC Scholarship Director
Overview
The Scholarship Director is a member of the Alumni & Volunteer Corporation that facilitates and coordinates execution of all Colorado Gamma Scholarship programs.
The scholarship director is responsible for supporting the chapter in academic related maters. Primarily serving as the lead for managing the annual endowment scholarships for chapter members, the scholarship director can also help manage the resident scholar and support the chapter BMS efforts.
This includes oversight of the Resident Scholar Program and all Colorado Gamma scholarships (scholarship communications, application distribution/collection, application review, and awards for the Balanced Man Scholarship, Bradford Memorial Scholarship, Saylor Memorial Scholarship, and SPECAT Scholarship).
Responsibilities
Chapter Academics
- Mentor chapter leadership on setting academic goals and developing an environment of academic excellence within the chapter
- Identify Scott Key award winner (for highest chapter member GPA each academic year) and award the Scott Key badge (ordered by AVC Comptroller) at Balanced Man Scholarship dinner each fall.
Co Gamma Scholarship Endowments
- Communications to membership about awards and process each year
- Distribution of Scholarship Applications
- Bradford Scholarship
- Saylor Scholarship
- SPECAT
- Review of Scholarship Applications with selected AVC members (ad hoc scholarship committee selected by AVC Scholarship Director)
- Generate scholarship award certificates and arrange presentation (SPECAT Scholarship in Spring, Bradford/Saylor in Fall)
Balanced Man Scholarship
- Provide guidance and advise to the chapter as they manage the Balanced Man Scholarship program
Resident Scholar Program
- Markets Resident Scholar Position, accepts applications, and selects candidate with undergraduate executive board input.
- Support the chapter in the resident scholar selection process
- Meet occasionally with the resident scholar to discuss chapter progress
