2009 Reunion

Co Gamma Brothers are getting together for the 2009 Reunion (September 18-20th) to celebrate our history and kick off SigEp's 95th year at Colorado State.

Brothers:

Thanks for a great weekend – good to see all of you. I thought you’d appreciate knowing some of the final numbers for the reunion:

• It appears that we had 90 bros come back for the reunion.
  
• 48 guys played golf.
  
• 88 bros and guests went to the Friday reception.
  
• I think 123 alums and guests attended the tailgater, plus another 90+ actives.
  
• We had 109 alums and guests in the football game group section, plus I think at least six bros who already own season tickets.
  
• We also had 109 alums and guests at Saturday’s dinner, plus several actives.
  
• Thanks to your timely payments and additional donations, it appears that we’ll have over $1,000 left to give to the house for scholarships, rebuilding, or whatever. It was very reassuring to get payments in from you guys and not have to play the collections manager.
  

I really want to thank the golfers for their very generous gifts. I know Mike Serino and Bob Morgan were the ringleaders, along with many of you who aided and abetted. That was totally unexpected. I look forward to heading back to Canada, and I appreciate your help in making that happen. (Although… The last time I was in a small boat in Canada, I cooked up some wild-ass idea about a reunion, and look where it got me.)

Special thanks to:

• Mike Serino and Brian Cuje for organizing the golf outing (and thanks to Dick Long for assisting).
  
• Bryan Harmsen for putting our website together, creating the on-line registration, and helping with financial administration.
  
• The Alumni Board (AVC) and Active Chapter for the tailgater; it was great. Active Bros, give Rita Williams a big wet one (a kiss, that is).
  
• Pete Leonard (a.k.a.“Skynyrd”). The shirts and caps were great and the slide show was fantastic! That show really made the event, and Pete’s efforts have won the highest praises from everyone at the reunion.
  
• Tom Wood for printing name tags and event schedules.
  
• Mike Carter for putting together the Yahoo website.
  
• Gary and Marlene Swieso for the pre-party and post-party. Too bad that we stayed until 2:00 a.m., but at least we weren’t thrown out of the hotel!
  

Finally, I have the engraved cigar box given to me on my living room table, and am wearing Red-Eye’s tee shirt from Okoboji, Iowa, as I write this.

If I have any regrets about the weekend, it was that I didn’t fully understand nor convey to you guys that the Sunday ritual was, in fact, an activation ceremony. However, to me, that was one of the many highlights of the weekend, and reminded me why I pledged Sig Ep in the first place -- thirty-four years ago.

I look forward to seeing you all in another thirty years!
