Lola
Lola is a quaint little restaurant in the Lower Highlands (LoHi) serving coastal Mexican cuisine.Lola moved to this location in 2006, after operating near Wash Park for many years.I had the pan roasted corvina from the Lola dinner menu and enjoyed it. The corvina is a type of sea bass and was very well done. The chile bisque sauce that accompanies the corvina and covers the mashed sweet potatoes was far too rich for my taste, but overall the quality of the corvina made it a good meal.
The prices of dinner entrees ranged from $17 for shrimp albondigas to $23 for five chile rubbed flatiron steak, the night I visited. The music in Lola is definitely on the lounder end of the spectrum, but it was fun and unique. While relaxing in the Lola basement, one guest remarked that it had a very comfortable feeling, as though you were visiting a friend's home. While you would have to have friends with very nice homes for this to ring true, I would definitely agree that Lola provides a classy, yet comfortable atmosphere.
When visiting the restrooms at a restaurant, you hope for clean restrooms. The restrooms at Lola's were extraordinary. I was told the ladies room has private rooms that are clean, welcoming, and a very unique design.1575 Boulder St
