Brown Palace

Brown Palace from 17th Street The Brown Palace is and has been the most prestigious hotel in Denver for more than 100 years. The Brown Palace is also the 2nd oldest hotel in Denver, opening on August 12th, 1892. Teddy Roosevelt was the first President to stay at the hotel in 1905 and it has seen numerous distinguished guests since, including The Beatles in 1964.

The Brown Palace lobby impresses guests with fine decorations and furnishings. An interesting characteristic is that all water needs for the hotel continue to be served by a 720 foot deep artesian well on the lot.

The atrium of the Brown Palace is adorned by this exquisite chandelier and is the location of the Brown Palace's famous afternoon tea. The Brown Palace once held the title for most Onyx covering its public areas.

The Brown Palace also offers four restaurants, including the Ship Tavern, Ellyngton's, Palace Arms, and the Brown Palace Club. The restaurants at the Brown Palace have been widely regarded as some of the best in the city throughout its history.
